emmaEmma Louise Hewson is a Toronto-based singer/pianist/songwriter, whose love of self expression is present in her original music and cheerful stage presence. Emma’s musical style started evolving at a young age when her passion for singing and songwriting became apparent. Along with the pop and R&B music of the day, 12 years of classical piano lessons became the major influences of her songwriting. In 2008, Emma began to pursue a music degree at York University in Toronto, where she experimented with jazz vocals and free improvisation. In this period, she honed her unique style, playing intricate, jazzy piano grooves while singing with a heavy R&B influence. Her first EP, EMMA, was released in 2014 (http://emmalouisehewson.bandcamp.com/). It highlights the raw, intricate piano and percussion duo that forms the basis of her sound. Often described as ‘cheerful with depth,’ Emma’s music will be stuck in your head and your heart.
